$umplete is a number puzzle game where you delete numbers from a grid so that each row and column adds up to its target value. Simple to learn, satisfying to solve, and every puzzle can be cracked through pure logic.

How to Play
Each puzzle gives you a grid of numbers with target sums along the right (rows) and bottom (columns). Delete numbers until each line's remaining values add up to its target.

Look at the targets
Row targets are on the right, column targets on the bottom. These are the sums you need to achieve with the numbers you keep.

Tap cells to mark them
Each tap cycles through: blank (undecided) → deleted (red ×) → kept (green circle) → blank again.

Use the targets to reason
A target of 0? Delete everything. Target equals the line total? Keep everything. Start with the easy lines and work inward.

Cross-reference rows and columns
Each resolved cell gives new information to its row and its column. Keep switching between them.

When the remaining blanks in a line can only go one way, tap the target label to fill them all at once.

- Check — Highlights incorrect guesses in orange.

Example Situations
Here are common game scenarios you'll encounter and how to think through them.
The Zero Row
Target is 0 — nothing should be kept. Delete every cell in this line. This is always your first move.
The Full Keep Column
4 + 6 + 5 = 15, and the target is 15. The sum of all cells equals the target, so keep everything.
Only One Combination Works
You've kept 3 and deleted 5. You need 7 more to reach the target of 10. The only undecided cell is 8 — but 3 + 8 = 11, not 10. Something doesn't add up! Go check the intersecting column for more clues before committing. This kind of contradiction tells you a previous assumption needs revisiting.
Almost Done — Two Cells Left
You've kept 6 and deleted 4. The target is 16, so you need 10 more. The blanks are 3 and 7. Since 3 + 7 = 10, both must be kept. Tap the target to auto-fill them.
Pro tip
When a line has only one or two blanks left, the answer is almost always forced. Scan the grid for these "almost done" lines — they're your quickest wins.
Gameplay Tips
Getting Started
Start with zero targets
If a row or column target is 0, every number in that line must be deleted. Handle these first. Tap the target label to auto-delete all cells in one go.
Look for "full keep" lines
If a target equals the sum of every number in that row or column, nothing should be deleted — keep everything. Just as easy as zeros.
Scan for extreme targets
Very low targets mean most cells must be deleted. Very high targets mean most cells must be kept. Fewer possibilities means easier deductions.
Core Strategy
Cross-reference rows and columns
Every cell belongs to both a row and a column. Resolve a cell from row logic? Check its column. This back-and-forth is the heart of the game.
Think about what's left
If kept cells already hit the target, delete all remaining blanks. If the blanks sum to exactly what you need, keep them all. Tap the target to auto-fill.
The "only option" test
Look at undecided cells in a line. If a cell appears in every valid combination that hits the target, it must be kept. If it's in none, delete it.
Look for repeated values
Two cells with the same number and you need exactly that amount? One is kept, one deleted. Resolve neighboring cells to figure out which is which.
Advanced
Prioritize "almost done" lines
Lines with only 1–2 undecided cells are usually forced. Solve these first — they cascade into adjacent lines.
Elimination on small remainders
Need 4 more with blanks of 3, 7, and 4? Only the 4 works alone. Always check if a single cell or small subset uniquely hits the remaining target.
Long press to peek
Long press any target label to see the current sum of kept cells in that line. Saves you from counting manually.
When You're Stuck
Check before Hint
Tap Check first — a wrong guess might be blocking progress. Fix highlighted cells and the puzzle may open up.
Switch perspective
Been focused on rows? Look at columns. A fresh angle on the same cells often reveals missed deductions.
Start small, build up
Begin with 3×3 grids to learn the patterns. Larger puzzles use the exact same logic — just more cells.

Local Data Storage
The app stores game progress, statistics, and settings locally on your device only. This data never leaves your device. Delete the app and it's gone.

$umplete runs entirely offline. No network requests, no SDKs, no APIs.
Children's Privacy
$umplete collects no data from anyone, including children. Safe for all ages.
